CLASSROOM ROUTINES

Check In: Connection is a key part of helping children feel safe and comfortable at school. Each child is greeted by their teachers upon arrival. We practice life skills together including taking care of our belongings and washing our hands.

Circle: Circle time is one of the greatest joys of the school day. Children connect as a group to practice listening to each other, taking turns, and understanding/exploring the theme and activities for the day. Music, counting, letters, games and more are incorporated into circle time.

Centers and Art: Children explore a variety of learning centers and opportunities for creative expression. Centers may include sensory play, dramatic play, blocks, fine motor activities, books, puzzles, science exploration, painting, drawing, creating, building and more.

Story: Children cultivate a love for reading during our daily story time.

Chapel: Sharing God’s love is a key part of First Lutheran Preschool’s ministry. Our weekly chapel includes songs, prayer, and a Bible story.

Music: Children sing, chant, play instruments and dance to music with our music teacher, Mr. Joel, each week.

Outdoor Exploration: We strive for longer, deeper play outdoors every day. Please help your child dress for the weather. We do have an indoor playroom as an alternative for days when the weather is extreme.

Free Play: Some of children’s greatest learning and growth happens when given the opportunity to choose and develop their play. Often free play provides the best moments for children to practice problem solving, negotiate sharing and develop empathy.

Clean-up: Children care for each other and the classroom by helping during clean-up time.

Snack: Children enjoy a snack from home after washing hands and praying together. PLEASE NOTE: We are a nut free school.

Goodbye: The connections children develop with their peers and teachers each day are important. A special goodbye is offered each day to remind children that we will gather together again soon.
